Agreed. Glitzy paper gift bags are ugly and environmentally un-friendly but… outlawed?!
NY State has fined a Rochester wine merchant $10,000 for selling wine gift bags! NY state won’t explain the ridiculous law but they do say it exists. WTF?! Read the story here.
The good news is that it’s 100% legal to sell our reusable Hero Bags ‘two bottle bag’ canvas wine totes online to anyone in NY!

New York City’s Bloomberg proposes plastic bag fee.

New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg proposes charging shoppers 6 cents for every plastic bag needed at the register. I’m glad to hear that New York city is fed up with plastic bags but I’m not crazy about a tax to get shoppers to use reusable bags.
