Garage Sales – Recycled Hidden Treasures for Cheap

June 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

After watching my toddler struggle to push around a broom I got to thinking, “Gee, that little guy would just love one of those plastic ‘poppers on a stick’”. But being the green-meany Mom that I am I just couldn’t bring myself to bear the eco-responsibility of bringing another plastic toy into this world.

Well you’re in luck little guy! A local San Francisco family was having a garage sale and we picked up the little plastic beauty for .75¢ Who could imagine that a garage sale could contribute to global happiness? Happy toddler gets a perfectly good used toy for a fraction of the price. The environment is spared the production of another plastic toy and our *new to us* toy avoided going to a landfill and of course our neighbors made .75¢

hero vote

My Mom called me Monday night urging me to get out and vote.  I don’t need much urging to vote but it was fun to hear Mom rant about the candidates and her excitement over Obama.

So dear Momma’, this posting is for you. I don’t need to tell you who we voted for here at Hero Bag headquarters but our candidate’s name rhymes with the word Momma’

Environmental Groups Help Eliminate Excess Catalogs

November 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Holiday season is upon us and so are those dreaded stacks of holiday catalogs. The science of how or why some of these catalogs make it through my mailbox with my name on them I’ll never know, like American Girl & The Sierra Knife Collection Catalog to name a few but the answer on how to get rid of them has just arrived.

To eliminate those unwanted catalogs for good and to help save trees go to CatalogChoice.org and sign up for FREE removal of any catalog in their database.

Catalog Choice is operated by the National Wildlife Federation as well as The Natural Resource Defense Council and the Ecology Center which are concerned with reducing the number of catalogs sent out each year (19 billion a year) and the number of trees used to make them (53 billion) So please check out Catalog Choice and eliminate the waste of paper and energy in your mailbox.
